January 24 & 25 - Whalefest Monterey at Fisherman's Wharf. This is a fundraising event to benefit many local marine conservation non-profit organizations. Don't miss a free fun event for all ages that celebrates the Monterey Bay and whales, while benefiting many local marine organizations. The event will run from 10a.m. to 5p.m. The Old Fisherman's Wharf Association is sponsoring the event. Now is the time to visit The Monarch Sanctuary in Pacific Grove. The sanctuary is located at 250 Ridge Road off of Lighthouse Avenue. Pacific Grove Museum docents are present everyday in the sanctuary from Nov. to Feb. from 12pm to 3pm, weather permitting. The sanctuary is a Pacific Grove municipal park and is freely open from sunrise to sunset. Stop by the Sanctuary, view the butterflies, and learn why thousands of them stay in Pacific Grove every winter. There is no admission fee.
