What's Happening This Month?

January 21 - Whalefest Monterey at Fisherman's Wharf.This is a fundraising event to benefit many local marine conservation non-profit organizations. Don't miss a free fun event for all ages that celebrates the Monterey Bay and whales, while benefiting many local marine organizations. The event will run from 9am to 10pm. The Old Fisherman's Wharf Association is sponsoring the event. The day will feature a wide array of fun activities including a scavenger hunt, a bocce tournament on Fisherman's Wharf, whale watching excursions, live music and entertainment, a special concert with Barbara Joy and the La Mesa School Children's Chorus directed by Gloria A. Souza, a dance, informative and educational exhibits by marine organizations, a raffle, and documentary and film screenings, and much more. Several local hotels in Monterey are offering special room rates, including the Portola Hotel & Spa, De Anza Inn and Comfort Inns. Science Saturdays at the Pacific Grove Museum in downtown Pacific Grove. Fun hands-on science activities from 11am to 3pm.

Kids Up Front & Free! Chamber Music Monterey Bay sponsors a free ticket program for Monterey County school children from 3rd to 12th grade. Children and their paying adult companions are invited to sit in the center front three rows at each of our concerts for an “up close and personal” concert experience. Adult tickets are $15 each or 2 for $25. All Monterey County music teachers are informed of this program, and are welcome to attend with their students for free.
