May 1 - Big Sur International Marathon - Hwy
1, Big Sur to Carmel. This marathon, consistently named the Best
Marathon in North America by The Ultimate Guide to Marathons, is
set along one of the most breathtaking routes in the world. Also
includes a 21-mile power walk, 5K run, 9-mile walk, 10.6-mile walk,
and marathon relay.

May 7 & 8 - 12th Annual Marina International
Festival of the Winds in Marina. Kite flying, hang gliding,
wind-related kids crafts, live music and entertainment and food.
Admission is free. Glorya Jean Tate Park and Marina State Beach. Saturday from 10am - 5:30pm and Sunday from 10am - 5pm. www.marinafestival.com
May 12-15 - Salinas Valley Fair Enjoy the atmosphere
of an old-fashioned county fair, complete with carnival, bull-riding,

May 21 & 22 - Castroville Artichoke Festival. Have
some fun sampling artichokes with musical entertainment, arts and
