November 8 - 5th Annual Veterans Day Celebration in Marina.Celebrate Veterans Day with a family bike tour through Fort Ord National Monument, breakfast, a history talk and a tour of various historic buildings. 8a.m-11:30a.m. Marina Equestrian Center, Corner California Avenue (aka 5th Ave) and 9th Street, Marina. November 16 - Big Sur Half Marathon along Monterey Bay's coastline. The race begins at 7am in downtown Monterey, continues along the Coastal Recreation Trail through Cannery Row towards Pacific Grove, where it loops around and back, finishing in Custom House Plaza. www.bigsurhalfmarathon.org

November 22 - January 4 - Ice Skating by the Bay Custom House Plaza transforms into a winter wonderland this season for Ice Skating by the Bay. Enjoy the outdoor ice rink well into the New Year! Admission is $10 for children and $12 for adults. More info www.iceskatingbythebay.com

November 28 - Black Friday Day Out for Parents! Sugar & Spice Studios in Salinas has some fun planned for kids, while parents get to do a little holiday shopping. Drop your kids (ages 4-10) off from 8a.m.-2p.m. Kids will: Make lots of ornaments & crafts to bring home, have mini holiday makeovers, enjoy hot chocolate, snacks throughout (please provide a small, healthy lunch), dancing & more. Tree Lightings

November 28 - Cannery Row's 20th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Steinbeck Plaza on the Row. Family entertainment including carolers, Santa, and reindeer! The ceremony is free and open to the public from 5pm - 8pm. For more information go to www.canneryrow.com

December 1 - City of Pacific Grove Tree Lighting and Holiday Festivities at Jewell Park include live entertainment by school bands and choruses, followed by caroling and refreshments at Chautauqua Hall and Santa’s first visit! The tree lighting begins at 5:30pm. More info www.pacificgrove.org

December 4 - Monterey's Tree Lighting at 5:00p.m. in historic downtown Monterey's Traditional Christmas Tree Lighting will include carols, candles, cookies, cider and good cheer. The festivities will be from 5p.m. to 6p.m. in front of Colton Hall. More info www.seemonterey.org

December 5 - Carmel City Holiday Tree Lighting & Sunset Center Holiday Party. The Sunset Center Holiday Party is from 3 to 5p.m. in the Theater Lobby. The party at Sunset Center includes complimentary wine, cookies and coffee as well as a professional photographer that will take pictures in front of the Sunset Christmas Tree. The City Holiday Tree Lighting starts at 4:30p.m. in Devendorf Park, on Ocean and Junipero Avenues, where the Monterey Fire Department will deliver Santa Claus. City Tree Lighting Entertainment starts at 4:30p.m. and Mayor Jason Burnett will light the tree at approximately 5:45p.m. rain or shine. More info go to www.carmelcalifornia.com
