May 19 - 21 - Carmel Art Festival in Carmel-by-the-Sea highlights its artist colony origins with the 23rd Annual Carmel Art Festival. Centered around the visual arts, the festival features sculpture in Devendorf Park, a juried plein air painting competition, art activities for children, live performances and more. May 20 - Old Monterey Foundation has resumed the monthly Lower Presidio Historic Park Walking tours continues to team up with noted Monterey Bay historian and author, Tim Thomas, who offers outstanding “Lower Presidio Historic Park Walking Tours” on the third Saturday of every month from 10am to noon. Tours meet in front of the City of Monterey’s Presidio of Monterey Museum, 113 Corporal Ewing, Building #113. Map/Directions. Advance reservations are required by calling Tim Thomas at 831-521-3304 or via email timsardine@yahoo.com. The tour is for ages 10-adult only & the cost is $20 for adults and kids are $15 (10-15 years). Group rates are also available.

May 27 - Science Saturday: All About Birds at Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History from 10a.m. to 3p.m. Enjoy a day of feathered fun and fly into the wonderful world of birds. Learn about the California Condor with experts from the Ventana Wilderness Society, talk to the wild bird rehab team from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and meet a LIVE great horned owl with Master Falconer Antonio Balestreri.
