What's Happening This Month?

September 6 - The popular CIG Insurance Community Safety Saturday, a free, family-friendly event sponsored by Capital Insurance Group® (CIG) returns again this year. The event will take place at CIG, 2300 Garden Road, Monterey from 10am to 2pm. The event features activities, demonstrations, and educational services designed to improve the safety and security of children, teens, families, and communities. People of all ages will enjoy free games, prizes, and a wealth of materials and information from many different booths staffed by local and regional organizations.

September 6 - Monterey's Old Fisherman's Wharf Association continues "Wharf Walks at Monterey's Old Fisherman's Wharf" with "Squid Tales of the Monterey Baywith noted Monterey Bay Fisheries Historian and author, Tim Thomas from 10am to noon. Tours meet at the head of Old Fisherman’s Wharf (near the pink “Harbor House” store, #1 Old Fisherman’s Wharf, Monterey). Advance reservations are required by calling Tim Thomas at 831-521-3304 or by email timsardine@yahoo.com. The tour is for ages 10–adult only and the cost is $20 for adults and kids are $15 (10-15 years). Group Rates are also available.

September 12 & 13 - Ariel Theater in Salinas presents Three Piggy Opera. Come enjoy this short musical play based on the classic fairy tale, The Three Little Pigs.  The Three Little Pigs discover that diligence, hard work and generosity are the best protection from the Big Bad Wolf. September 23 - 28 - The Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach is a 54-hole golf event, the first of its kind, featuring 81 Champions Tour players and 81 junior golfers ages 15-18. September 25 - 28 - Monterey Bay Birding Festival. This annual birding festival is designed for both seasoned and beginning birders, as well as outdoor lovers, the festival offers a unique opportunity to explore, learn and appreciate world class habitats such as the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, Elkhorn Slough National Marine Estuary. Pac Rep Theater's School of Dramatic Arts is currently excepting applications for their Fall line up of classes at the Golden Bough Playhouse in Carmel. This Fall SODA has mixed up their routine slightly by offering age level appropriate Acting Classes (replacing CORE classes). You now have the ability to tailor additional classes (Improv, Play Production and Movie Making!) to your actor's schedule that not only compliment their talents, but fit in the regular after-school routine.
